Our 2010 Occasio Pinot Gris was sourced entirely from Livermore’s Del Arroyo Vineyard, the highest vineyard location in the Livermore Valley. The elevation allows for extreme diurnal temperature shifts (warm days- cold nights). This climate, coupled with the indigenous Positas Gravelly Loam soil, create the wonderful opportunity for crafting an elegant, true to varietal wine.
Grapes were hand sorted, and then pressed without stemming (whole cluster). The juice was fermented in stainless steel at 12C (54F). Slow fermentation allowed for extended lees contact, which provides a rich and luxurious style of wine reminiscent of those produced in Alsace.
