Zinfandel has a proud heritage in the Livermore Valley, with the first plantings occurring over a century ago. Using the ancient Deaver and Dupratt clones, our wonderfully complex wine pays tribute to this heritage.
The 2008 Occasio Reserve Zinfandel was sourced entirely from Livermore’s Del Arroyo Vineyard. Del Arroyo Vineyard is home to some of the most impressive Zinfandel grapes in the Livermore Valley. The warm days and cool, coastally-moderated nights produce intensely concentrated fruit with excellent acidity and beautifully structured tannins
The grapes were hand harvested in the early morning hours of September 29, and sorted and stemmed without crushing into a stainless steel fermentation tank. The whole berries were cold-soaked with frequent pumping over for several days prior to fermentation. Fermentation temperature was kept cool to retain the natural fruit flavors characteristic of Del Arroyo. Aged in American Oak barrels for 18 months prior to bottling, our Reserve Zinfandel is a marvelously structured, complex wine that pays trubute to Livermores pioneering heritage.
Ripe and delicious, this Zinfandel is layered with wild berry and blackberry with notes of cinnamon and clove shaded by light, toasty oak. The finish is a fantastic burst of fruit with ripe, integrated tannins.
