Our Winemaker
After graduating from Davis, John Kinney devoted his career to research and education with the goal of one day owning his own winery. This opportunity came in the form of a spectacular 2007 grape harvest, and with his family encouraging his belief in Occasio aegre offertur, facile amittitur – opportunity comes rarely, and is easily lost, John set out to build a winery to showcase the remarkable terroir of Livermore Valley.
His friends have been known to call him a true Renaissance man, but he would humbly disagree and simply ask that the wine speak for itself. Using nature as his guide and his hands to harness its energy, John unleashes the soul of Livermore Valley’s unique terroir. John meticulously handcrafts each wine using grapes he has selected from growers who share his passion for quality. With very limited production, John brings this fervor for perfection and respect for timing to every bottle he creates.
